Our Red Boat was built at Waterline Yachts, in Sidney, British Columbia. She splashed in 1996, then headed up to Juneau with her first owners, Kevin and Beth Hansen. They then took her to the south Pacific for a few years of sailing, island-hopping and general merriment. Richard and Fran caught up with them in the Marshall Islands (about 8 degrees North of the equator). It was there that the decision to buy RED was made.

We took delivery of him (RED's a boy boat) in September of 2006 on Bainbridge Island, in Washington State. Though Kevin and Beth had taken great care of him, they also sailed him, many, many miles (about 25,000), so RED spent until summer of 2007 in Sidney having a minor refits and repairs.

RED now lives a rather chilly life in Whittier, Alaska. Fran, Richard and boatcat George regularly take him out to explore Prince William Sound!

Here's Captain Richard - he's dreamed of this sailboat for many, many years.  He has quite a knack for making dreams come true.  And for maneuvering this big guy - it's like he's been doing it for years.

Fran has been dreaming of sailing about as long as Richard. She was even talked into moving from Kauai to Alaska on the promise of sailing to the tropics someday....1 year and she's still waiting - and enjoying Alaska thoroughly in the mean-time.
